Two teams of riders battled very damp conditions at Alfold in the annual Surrey League 4up TTT.
Redhill A consisted of the established powerhouses of Rupert Burbidge and Ian Leeding with last year and this years most improved testers, Jonny Bradbourne and Charl Jordaan.
Redhill B were represented by the evergreen Allan Hopkins and Gavin Garrett and the powerful combination of GG Moroni and James Trigg.
The day was wet and miserable and the course an undulating test around the country roads of Loxwood and Paistow.
Team A were first off and suffered an immediate setback when club champion Rupert Burbidge suffered a puncture in the first mile which eliminated him from the race. The rules are that the team time is taken on the third man home so the remaining team members had to make sure they rode together for the duration of the course.
Unfortunately there was a further setback when Jonny Bradbourne also punctured in the last mile and the team had to limp in covering the 30 miles in 1h 15m53s
Sadly a similar fate befell Redhill B with Allan Hopkins puncturing on the first of 3 laps. The reduced team carried on, with GG taking his customary long turns on the front and the team finished in 1hr 17m 40s.
The winners overall were London Dynamo who belted round the course in a very impressive 1h 2m 37s.
Despite the rain and the punctures everyone was in a surprisingly good mood at the end of the event and eagerly looking for more team events...
