So this was meant to be a report on the MTB Intermediate ride that was going to discuss how a good selection of mud tyres, layering of warm clothes and careful route planning (to avoid the icy muddy waters) lead to a decent ride on an otherwise cold snowy winters day.  Instead the crew planned "the steal"....

The gang knew the weather wouldn't put their well laid plans on hold, despite a mechanical at the beginning.  Watches stayed synchronised as the Guv'nor Stuart lead Two Bikes Mike, Phil the Fingers, The Silk (Helen), Enforcer Fran and Tall Bob (Robert) towards the mark via Mogador and Tadworth.  The crew rendezvoused at Bike Beans to check for tails and despite one siren as the law closed in (the smoke alarm as the cafe burnt the bacon), they gave them the slip and proceeded via the quiet back trails of Ashstead.  The drop was now confirmed, point of no return, go, go, go...

Oh an incase you are wondering how you steal a 200CWT safe on mountain bikes - think Fat bikes - Fat bikes with paniers.  We were ready for the big one...

Sure enough the safe was there but it had already been got at!  Noooooo!  The crew found the safe largely empty, no more than a couple of 20p pieces were left.  Dreams of moving to Brazil and riding the mountains around Rio dashed!  No finger prints were left and the crew marked this one up to experience.  But suspicion lies with the gang on the other side of the tracks, known only as "the Roadies", they been pushing into our territory lately on their cyclocross bikes and that won't do.  It won't do at all...
